Develop a family fire escape plan. When you are in a fire you have less than three minutes to get out or you could succumb to smoke inhalation or burn to death. Radon Testing – Radon gas comes from the breakdown of uranium, which can be found in nearly all soils and can make its way into a home. A professional can come in and test the radon levels in your home and if they are high a vent pipe system and a fan that pulls the radon out from beneath the house can vent the toxic gas to the outside.

Poison control – Lock up all poisons such a pest-control and cleaners in a cupboard so that they are completely inaccessible if you have children. Always have the number of your local Poison Control Center posted in a prominent place. Keep all medications, including over-the-counter medications secure and out of the reach of children.
